Project Overview

OpenArc partnered with USA Today High School Sports to design and build promotional microsites for a fun series of nationwide, bracket-based contests that allowed high school sports fans to weigh in on their favorite teams, rivalries and mascots. The contests drew a massive amount of attention across all 50 states, with the final mascot challenge garnering nearly 80 million votes. OA engineers brought innovative thinking and total accessibility to the project, with an intuitive feature set, measures to limit fraudulent voting, and 24/7 support.

The use of open technologies allowed for maximum freedom in the mobile space, ensuring smooth sailing for the extremely heavy server traffic involved in a promotion of this scope. Facebook integration added another level of interaction, allowing fans to share the contest with friends – and engage in some friendly smack talk.
